Melbourne Cricket Ground

The Melbourne Cricket Ground, affectionately known as the MCG, is one of the most recognisable sports venues in the world. The largest stadium in the southern hemisphere holds more than 100,000 fans and can be found 3 km north of the hotel in Yarra Park. Since 1853 it has hosted everything from international Test matches and cricket World Cups to the 1956 Olympic Games, the 2006 Commonwealth Games and major concerts by the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna and the Rolling Stones.

Lucky visitors can take in a game or a gig, and even if there’s nothing scheduled you can still book a tour to explore the National Sports Museum, the Australian Sports Hall of Fame, the Melbourne Cricket Club Museum and the Australian Racing Museum.
